MGN ARCADIA, Fla. (AP) – An Illinois man fleeing sheriff’s deputies died after running in front of a tractor trailer in southwest Florida. Authorities say 35-year-old Octavio Lopez of DeKalb, Illinois, was carrying a knife and running from DeSoto County Sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday afternoon when he ran in front of the truck. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune (http://bit.ly/1x3t3UZ ) reports deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant when Lopez started running down the shoulder of State Road 70 near Arcadia. The Florida Highway Patrol says Lopez dropped the knife just before running into the road. Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver wasn’t injured. The crash is under investigation.
