COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Two people were arrested overnight after a high-speed car chase.

Authorities identified one of the suspects as 32-year-old Eduardo Garcia.

Collier County Deputies say the chase started around midnight Friday, just outside the Mercato Shops.

It ended five miles away at the Caribbean Park Adult Community on Sunrise Boulevard. Speeds had reached upwards of 80 mph in a 50 mph zone.

Residents had a front-row seat overnight as they watched the action from their living rooms.

“Well he probably didn’t realize this is a dead-end road, he’s not only a crook, he’s a genius!” said one resident.

Deputies stopped the suspect’s vehicle using a PIT maneuver, making sure nobody got hurt. The driver was held at gunpoint while police searched the car.

Officials say they found a case of Budweiser and a glass bong in the car.

Both men are now in jail. Garcia is facing several charges including DUI and eluding law enforcement officers.
