Fort Myers police search for car used in robbery

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help tracking down a vehicle believed to have been used during an early morning theft last Thursday, Dec. 18.

Detectives say between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m., an unknown person broke into the coin machines at Banana Joe’s Car Wash, located on 18090 S. Tamiami Trail. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the machines.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the vehicle believed to have been used that morning – which is described as a tan or gold colored four door sedan.

Detectives also believe the suspect may have committed or attempted thefts of other similar style coin operated machines during the same day and time frame.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle, or has information on its owner, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
