Montverde squared off with Marietta Wheeler

The City of Palms Tournament saved its best for last.

Tuesday night’s championship game featured the two-time defending City of Palms Champs, Montverde (FL) against Marietta Wheeler (GA).

The night quickly turned into a showcase for the nation’s two best prospects.

Montverde’s Ben Simmons, an LSU commit, scored the first two points of the game.

Jaylen Brown, who’s gotten offers from Kansas, Kentucky, and a slew of others, scored Wheeler’s first six points.

Montverde would cling to a slim 15-14 lead after the first quarter.

However, Wheeler would finish on top, and would win the City of Palms Championship.

Wheeler 72, Montverde 65.

Montverde (FL) entered The City of Palms Tournament as the Maxpreps’ No.1 team in the nation, and with a 44 game win streak.

High Point Wesleyan (NC) fought Trinity Louisville (KY) in the Third-Place Final.

Wesleyan’s Harry Giles is being heavily recruited by Duke for a reason.
The 6-9 power forward lead all scorers with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

High Point Wesleyan 51, Trinity 47.
