FORT MYERS, Fla.- Kim Barber with Weight Watchers visits the WINK studio with some holiday dessert tips.

If you’re trying to lose or even maintain your weight, the holidays may be the hardest part of the year. But this is not a time to deprive yourself – you want to embrace and enjoy the holidays with friends and family. The challenge is that the holidays become holi-months that start with Halloween and don’t end until after New Year. Sweets are a big part of the holiday season and while you can still enjoy your favorite traditional recipes, we’ve come up with some creative ways for you to indulge in holiday treats in a healthier way.

Chocolaty Candy-Cane Triangles:   Chocolate and peppermint flavorings are one of the best holiday flavor combinations.  The secret ingredient in our version of these delectable treats is black beans.  The black beans in this recipe lend protein, fiber and color.  The white chocolate and peppermint add cheer!  And each triangle only has 70 calories.

Cranberry-Ginger Oatmeal Cookies:  Ginger is a popular holiday spice.  It’s in seasonal candles, specialty coffee drinks and of course, desserts.  And in this cookie recipe, we pair it with prune puree.  Prunes are high in fiber and in this recipe, they add a chewy, tender texture.

No-Cook Peanut Buttery Cookie Dough Bites:  These treats sound and taste decadent, but like our other recipes, we use a very unique ingredient: chickpeas!  Chickpeas are high in fiber and protein and they help make this recipe creamy and rich.
