COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Friday marks International Volunteer Day and people from around Southwest Florida are stepping up to make a difference in their community.

That included around 50 men and women from the Ritz Carlton in Naples, who stepped up to help Habitat for Humanity build homes in their brand new community of Regal Acres.

“We are pleased to be able to give back to the community,” said Maribeth McElligott, Director of Human resources for The Ritz-Carlton Resorts of Naples.  “On this special day, through the combined efforts of  all our Ladies and Gentlemen and our corporate Community Footprints teams The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company will reach out to 100 communities in 28 countries and territories throughout the world.”

Habitat for Humanity of Collier County builds more homes than any other Habitat for Humanity chapter in the country and when finished, Regal Acres will be host to more than 180 single family homes.

If you’d like to volunteer on a Habitat for Humanity build site you can do so by clicking here, or show up to the job site in person Tuesday through Saturday.

Regal Acres is expected to be finished by fall of 2015, Habitat volunteers and contractors average one completed house every week on the project.
