Central Florida woman bit by bear
LAKE MARY, Fla. (AP) – A Florida woman is recovering from a being bit by a bear in the latest bear attack in the Orlando suburb of Lake Mary.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on Thursday said the unnamed woman was walking her dog Wednesday night when the dog spotted the bear and tried to chase after it.
The tug from the dog caused the woman to fall. The bear bit the woman on the upper arm and left.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The dog was unharmed.
Wildlife officials have set up traps in the suburb in which residents have regular bear encounters.
Earlier this year, a woman was mauled by a bear in Lake Mary.
Three people were later charged with misdemeanors for feeding bears.
