TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Florida Gov. Rick Scott is kicking off inauguration events before his second term in office.

Scott will hold a series of informal barbecues this week hosted by businesses as part of a “Jobs Jamboree.” The Republican governor is holding the barbecues instead of other traditional events like an inaugural ball or a parade.

The first event is scheduled for Monday night at Boeing’s flight training center near the Miami International Airport.

Other events will be held this week in Jacksonville, Lake Mary, Naples, Pensacola and Tampa.

Scott will be sworn in Jan. 6.

Other inauguration events include an inaugural prayer breakfast and a small reception at the governor’s mansion.
