SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla.- A house fire on Devore Lane in San Carlos Park Monday morning has been ruled a total loss, while the fire marshal continues the investigation.

Firefighters say they got the call a little after 6 a.m. about flames and smoke showing from the home at the very end of Devore Lane.

When they arrived, firefighters say the home was burned to the ground. Hours later, smoke was still coming from the rubble.

Fire investigators say the home was in foreclosure and no one was living there. There was no power or water to the home. It is also surrounded by a wooded area, which firefighters say could have lead to a brush fire if it wasn’t for the rain over the weekend.

The fire department says the fire was started intentionally. The State Fire Marshal will now continue the investigation.
