Home burglary and stolen car investigation in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Lee County Sheriff’s office is investigating a home burglary in Fort Myers.

It happened at around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at a home in the McGregor Isles neighborhood.

The sheriff’s office says someone broke into a house on Prather Drive, but ran off when confronted by the homeowner.

Then just a block away, deputies say someone stole a car from Parkway Court.

Deputies don’t know for sure if the same person committed both crimes, but say they recovered the stolen car nearby, on McGregor Boulevard.

Neighbors say they woke up to the sound of a helicopter overhead.

No one was hurt, but deputies have not found the suspect.

No word yet on if anything was stolen.
